The storm came. Standing in the park, Mariah watched the city — from skyscrapers to pavement — crumble like sandcastles under a gentle shower. Accompanied by screams, civilization drained away while verdant hill and tree replaced sprawling metropolis.
Mariah didn’t flee. Open armed, she renounced modernity as Gaia’s rain dissolved her clothes.
