Flash Fiction: Betrayal’s Casualty

For months, he’d watched his daughter gain the unicorn’s trust. Now the child’s innocence brought it to a clearing, and hidden the hunter drew his bow.

She saw him, and the Forest King felt faith shatter.

The arrow missed its mark. It only slew a daughter’s love.
