Flash Fiction Serial: The Brownies, 35

“Shall I pull it out?” Briar asked.

Pepper nodded.

He gripped the sword’s hilt and gave a cautious tug. Then a firm pull.

“Are you playing tricks?” Pepper asked. “It’s barely in the tree.”

Briar put a foot on the oak and strained. “It won’t budge!”
