The landscape gave way to grass and boulders on a gentle slope to the sea.
“I’ve never seen the ocean!” Pepper said, Briar feeling her giddy grip on his waist. “It’s beautiful!”
Then she saw the grim ruin of Bundhafen Tower on its island.
“Oh, dear…”
