October Chill

Meri crossed arms in October chill. “I’m right where I need to be.”

Noah shifted, a silhouette of a wolf’s head on broad shoulders in the night. “I’ve become a monster. I must be dangerous!”

“You’re afraid,” Meri said, her face becoming snouted. “I can smell it.”
