Flash Fiction: Dead Connection

I can’t erase my wife’s last voicemail. She left it during the accident, apologizing for an argument we’d had.

I tried calling back.

She couldn’t hear me.

I blamed my iPhone.

Bad reception.

But when I saw her with my body,

I knew it wasn’t my phone that was dead.
