Flash Fiction: Above the Bluebird’s Stern

Earl idled the boat’s engine. On a calm harbor beneath a breaking dawn, the lobsterman watched the horned plesiosaur’s head rise above the Bluebird’s stern.

It dropped a loose trap buoy onto the deck.

“Thanks, Bert. I’ve been missing that.”
