The girl coughed, slipping in an icy puddle before sitting on her knees. “Kinren. His crossbow. It hit me.”
Shivering, her hand reached up as if to grasp something above her heart. “I held the bolt, right here… You were crying.”
“Oh gods,” Dru whispered. “Uncle?”
“How’d you save me?”
