H.R.R. Gorman of Let Me Tell You the Story of… won the April 10th Aether Prompt, with some out of this world microfiction:
Her knees bent and she landed. Her voice blathered foreign noises which my helmet translated, “Are you human?”
Clumsy in low gravity, I failed to stick my landing. My broken translator only worked one way, so I said nothing and lowered my visor to show my human face.
She cackled. “You’re cuter than the prophecies said.”
Prophecy? Her colony had been lost a long time.
“Come to my village,” she intoned as she beckoned me come, “My father will kill the fatted calf for us.”
I followed, but should I have asked if she was human, too?
Congratulations! Now you’re in the running for the 2019 AETHEREAL ENGINEER WRITER SUPPORT PRIZE PACKAGE! How might they, or possibly you, perchance win such fabled treasure as this? Take a look at my weekly Aether Prompts and find out!

Hello everyone! I won one of the Aethereal Engineer contests – check it out, and participate in one of the open contests for yourself!
(Regularly scheduled programming will be shifted back by a day – Carrot Ranch will be tomorrow and Sammi Scribbles on Sunday).

It deserves to win. An entire two chapters of a full-length novel (by my standards) condensed into … how many words?

97, by my count. :-) A piece well deserving of a win, indeed.
