We did it! I’m a published indie author! :-)
Angel is also up on Amazon UK and likely most of the other regional Amazons as well. It will be finding its way onto other online retailers large, small and indie soon (it’s on Kobo now), but the ‘Zon was the first to post it.
And — Great Caesar’s Ghost! — as of last night (October 2nd), it was at #5 on Amazon’s Best Sellers in One-Hour Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Short Reads!
It’s ranking higher than stories from John Grisham and Dean Koontz on its SECOND DAY OUT! This is just my first little thing… I’m stunned! This is something I hadn’t expected to happen.
I have so much thanks to give to everyone who has bought a copy so far! You are the BEST and this is huge for me!
Leading up to this, we got it uploaded for both print and eBook Sunday, and there was no information given on how long the eBook would take to get on retailers beyond no more than six to eight weeks. However, the Kindle version showed up on Tuesday. We had an issue with the first test run of the Angel paperback proof, but we corrected the mistake with the printer and ordered the first batch of physical copies from the fixed proof Wednesday night.
Getting Angel done by deadline wasn’t easy, as my wife and I became progressively as sick as dogs with congestion, sore throats, fatigue— and finally— couples tandem, synchronized projectile vomiting. Thank you, virus. We can add that wonderful experience as another relationship marker now.
So, our exciting three-day weekend became a rather miserable five-day one, but we still accomplished what we need to do with it. It nixed any celebrations, but we’re still happy. We’re just trying to not be too happy, because we’re still both a little queasy. And more reasons to be happy came on Friday:
I’ve got my first author event and signing on October 27th!
It will be taking place in Epping, New Hampshire at a little place an old and supportive friend works at. I’ll be doing a reading of Harvest, and should have copies of it and Angel to sign and sell. Harvest is an extremely “Halloweeny” story, so reading it just a few days before the holiday itself should be a great time. But the short schedule also requires us to scramble through our sickness to get the print versions of Harvest ready and ordered in time. So far, I think we’ll be able to pull it off.
Oh, and I messaged the venue after seeing Angel’s #5 showing last night as well, saying: “You can add Best Selling Amazon Author to your promo for me too. If you want.”
:-D :-D :-D
Have a great week everyone, and keep writing!

Thank you! It’s done so well, I’m really astonished! The reviews aren’t showing up yet, but I realize Amazon puts them on delay for non-KDP books like mine and many might have it on their TBR piles after be buying it.
You will be happy to know, however, that my editing partner and others helped me cut a lot of filler words in drafting. ;-)

Congrats! Now to hope some of those purchasers actually post reviews… :)

You ain’t kidding! Amazon has recently started getting very strict about reviews because of past abuses to their system. Many people might write reviews, but few stay up long.
