The white cat stopped at the ocean’s edge. “Merow.”
His ears flattened as the brownies on his back leaned forward to see.
“I know,” Briar said.
“Merow!”
“Just, GO!”
Whiskers bolted across nearly submerged rocks: An illusion of running atop the water.
