Engineer’s Log: Blooming Amid Adversity

Our rosebush: Blooming amid the rain, snow and wind of a cold November weekend.

November began for me with a weekend of rain, wind and snow after Halloween. It was a good time to huddle at home with a hot cup of Earl Grey and process the events of October. With the downtime, I of course picked up my laptop and started to write. I began with some additional tweaking and editing to Osrydian’s Tomb before I handed the latest versions of chapters two through four to my alpha readers for a new round of review and feedback. I then jumped back into the revision-rewrite of chapter one.

Progress has been slow on the story recently, but life seems to be getting back to normal after the weeks of chaos. It’s definitely frustrating some days and that is when I need to keep myself focused and affirm a truth: That writing isn’t a race and that ultimately I’d rather take the time to get it done right rather than just getting it done. Writing and editing on my story every day, even if that is for an hour or just twenty minutes, is infinitely better than writing nothing at all.

Like my rosebush, creativity can bloom amid adversity… It might not look impressive at the time, but at least it is stubbornly there.Getting_there

Yes, this is a short post. I want to focus on Unsundered rather than a long blog essay this week. However I’m going to toss a question at my readers: Do you have a topic or question you would like me to opine upon or explore in my next blog? If you do, post it as a reply! I could use your help because I’m looking for ideas to be used on future installments… your input will help me when I don’t have a lot of time to craft a post!
