WIP-it Wednesday: January 13th, 2016

Time for a new weekly writer’s roundup of my works-in-progress and those ready to read!

Last week was rather lackluster in terms of writing productivity and left me frustrated going into the weekend. But I decided to keelhaul those disappointments this Saturday! Cracking my knuckles, I dispensed two-fisted storytelling and I wrote the living daylights out of my buccaneering story, The Brynesmark! I crafted some action-packed and piratical fight scenes, threw-in some swift and supernatural adventure and then banged-out salted and dry humor. Finally, I wrapped-up the falling action with an unexpectedly emotional bit that managed to somehow drop-kick yours-truly right in the feels…

Aye. An’ I be needin’ another swig o’ me rum after that moment, I tells ya’! But twas just somethin’ in me eye ye landlubbers… an’ nary a thing more!

My efforts this week took The Brynesmark from a little under eight-thousand to nearly sixteen-thousand words… And I finished this story draft at long last as an open-ended novelette!

“Release the Kraken!”

Huzzah! Huzzah! Forty-two pages of kidnapped orphans, murderous seamen, treasure maps, vengeful wizards, assorted monsters, notorious buccaneers and piratical swordfightin’! Now to put the draft under the noses of my alpha-readers… Feedback and editing ahoy! ;-)

In summation: I wrote a whole lot of fiction this week. I feel exhilarated from the effort. And I need a nap. Arr…

Alright, time for me to stop blogging, take that nap... and get back to writing some more fiction! Take care!

    1. Thanks Cas! Renewed by a long rest, I printed up the piece in hardcopy this morning, six chapters in all. :-) I’m eager to hear the feedback from my alpha readers who’ve been extremely curious about it for months… and all I’ve been telling them is “Pirates” ;-).

You’ll be able read it too! I’ll be posting it up after edits starting with chapter one: “The Boy on the Steps” in a few weeks, or a month. :-)
