…Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake of King Kong contains this fantastic scene. It’s one of my favorite action sequences, ever. The film isn’t without its flaws, but I like it warts and all… Enough to recommend the directors cut. So if you’re digesting a big meal with family today, and have three and a half hours to burn, perhaps give it try. Or at least skip ahead to the Skull Island parts. ;-)

This is exactly how I have been feeling. Thank you for sharing this.

Great movie, and a great battle sequence. I had to shut my eyes during parts of the insect pit scene, though. I can see why they cut that sequence out of the original 1933 film. Even with the relatively primitive special effects of the time – gah, giant bugs!

Oh, the pit scene is nightmarish, I agree! It has a lot of impact because of that… but it’s not for the squeamish. ;-)
Speaking of the original Kong… have you ever seen Peter Jackson’s recreation of that famous “lost” scene using period effects? Here it is: https://youtu.be/SOMKnhN7ABs
