I look at the dark haired child. “You’re not what I expected.”
She smiles, hand offered. “Would you prefer a black jackal? An anteater?”
“What awaits me, Death?”
“I won’t say.”
“Then tell me… what was Life?”
“My lover.”
“What was I?”
“Our child.”
