Flash Fiction: Whole

The battle left the engineers mangled, but as lovers they endured.

With care and skill, she built him arms of enchanted clockwork. Hands restored, he fashioned legs of graceful steel.

She walked on new limbs beside him, her supple grip entwined with fingers of brass.
