Flash Fiction: Running in the Rain

A torrent of rain pounded down, and Alex stumbled in his run. He hit the pavement excepting the inevitability of his death.

They surrounded him immediately.

Man-sized.

Flightless feathers drenched and dripping.

The pack’s talons scraped asphalt as they leapt.
