Night Voyage

Uniform, smooth flatness from stern to horizon. No rocking of waves. No smell of salt as sails billow in a hot night’s breeze.

Instead, the Devil speaks in the scrape of ship’s runners skating across a dull reflection of stars.

Upon the Black Glass Sea.
