Flash Fiction: Blessing

She let serpentine coils envelope the golden eggs.

“You recovered all but one,” said the great snake.

She bounced the baby at her breast. “One hatched human along the way!”

“You wanted a child?”

She nods.

“He’s now more your son than mine. Take my blessing.”
