Falling Back as Rain

The kids sat cross-legged on the floor.

“What was it like for you?” the boy asks.

“Like evaporating,” the girl answers, “and falling back as rain.”

He nods. “Same… but you say it better.”

She touches his knee. “Friends in an old life, siblings in the next.”
