“Isn’t this a paradox?” my wife asks as the six-year-old sleeps.
“No, it wasn’t our timeline,” I answer. “It was an alternate universe where she would’ve died before I was born.”
“She’s your mom.”
“She could have been. Now she’s an orphaned relative.”
