The blackbird simulacrum lands on my shoulder. Behind his oculi dwells the AI entity that began as a copy of my mind. “You built me a bird’s body?” he asks. “I’ve thought being a bird would be spectacular since childhood,” I answer. “You’re right. It is!” He thinks he’s suave in his Ray-Ban sunglasses. “Sorry,” he grins, “I can’t lie, I dig hot chicks!” “Uh-huh,” I nod. He puts on welding gloves and reaches into his pet carrier. Seeing red, flaming little birds, I squee. “Baby phoenixes!” This guy is suave. Ner poked his molted body. “How’d this happen?!” “We’re in a kh’nar lifepod,” she answers. “It’s made for my kind, not humans. It thought you were a kh’nar with a genetic disorder, and fixed you.” “Fixed? I’m a freaking space spider!” “Yes, and a handsome one.” My teleporter failed and stripped my mass. I’m five inches of micronized woman on a peaceful island somewhere. I make a knife out of a coral chip and explore now vast beaches. I’m stunned meeting women my size. “Are you new to Lilliput?” they ask. He holds a knife to her throat in the passenger seat. “Sorry, Darlin’. I’m the one they warn you about in hitchhiker stories.” “No, Darling,” she sighs, amused at his blade, “I’m the monster in those stories.” His arm breaks, and he screams seeing her fangs. The boy’s sheet ghost costume was a soaked shroud clinging to him. “Trick or treat.” Kate offered candy. “Get sprayed by a hose?” “I hit my head falling into your pool…” She glanced to the pool and saw a floating white sheet. Looking back, the boy was gone. “Found you,” Death says to Mike. The child flashed a grin under the hospital bed. “You always find me in hide and seek!” “I find all.” “It’s been two weeks. Is today Ally’s day?” Death led him to Ally’s terminal ward. “She’ll be happy to see you.”
These are brilliant!!!! I got chills from the ghost trick-or-treater one; it’s a horrifying little seven-sentence short story that’s better than many I’ve done with 30,000+ words. ^_^

Thank you! Sometimes it’s not the amount of words you use but the point you reach with them.
