Mid-Week Muses: “Gym was the worst…”

With a gurgle of blood, Gathron's 
beloved friend died in his arms. 
Wrathful eyes turned to the enemy 
as he took up a fallen sword. 
She stopped running, too late to 
reach the departing bus. Seconds 
later she witnessed a tractor 
trailer pulverize it into confetti. 
His mortal wound bled onto the 
waters. Holding his emaciated mother 
with care, they entered the 
reincarnation pool together. 
The undergrad stared at her. "A 
"We both are... 50 years from 
now. But now my future mind is in 
my 20 year old self!" 
They awoke from bacterial fevers 
with only amnesia, and not the 
additional violent psychoses now 
afflicting 95% of humanity. 
"Gym was the worst. You don’t want 
to know how many times those 
bitches broke into my locker and 
threw my clothes in the toilet." 
She curled up on the couch, 
watching TV and laying her head 
on his stomach. His hand on her 
shoulder, all was right with the 
The goblin queen removed her 
wedding dress. "Do you still 
regret becoming like me?" 
He embraced her green 
nakedness. "Not now." 
"But.. I wished you free, 
Jinn," he said. 
The mideastern woman smiled. 
"And then I wished to be human. 
Let's see where this goes!" 
Asil tugged her grey hijab, 
then pointed to the black domino 
mask she wore under it. "Capes are 
cool, but these fit in a purse."
